Level 4 Welding - FCAW/FCAW-G - Certification
Level 4 Welding is an Advanced Flux Cored Arc Welding course designed for the student who has completed the Level 3 Flux Cored Welding course, or has extensive experience in welding with the flux cored arc welding process. The course is designed to continue to build upon previously learned welding skills and prepare the student to pass performance certification examinations. Proper welding technique using the E71T-8 (Lincoln NR-232/233) or E71T-1/9 (Lincoln 71M) will be emphasized. Test plates will be issued and used throughout this course and both simulated and actual performance tests will be administered.
Successfully passing this course, the Overhead (4G) performance test, coupled with passing the Vertical (3G) performance test, will qualify the applicant for LADBS Welder Certification.* LADBS Welder Certification requires a student to successfully pass the performance welding test (Vertical and Overhead plate tests) and the Department Written Exam.
NOTE: LADBS also requires welders to have passed the performance examination in the manual or SMAW process prior to issuing a semi-automatic (FCAW) certification.

Students must provide their own welding helmet, Leather Jacket, proper FCAW gloves, and must wear 100% cotton, full length pants and clothing, as well as leather boots or shoes, and safety glasses, which must be worn at all times while in the shop.
