Level 2 GMAW - Structural Steel
Level 2 Welding is an Intermediate to advanced level Gas Metal Arc Welding course designed for the student who has completed the Level 1 GMAW Structural Steel Course, or has extensive experience with MIG welding. The course is designed to build upon the skills and techniques acquired in the Level 2 Structural Steel by having the student perform properly fused fillet and groove welds in structural steel, out of position.
The short term goal of this course is to enhance the student's skills and also to prepare the student for advancement to the Level 3 GMAW Structural Steel course, which leads to certification.
NOTE: LADBS also requires welders to have passed the performance examination in the manual or SMAW process prior to issuing a semi-automatic (FCAW) certification.

The course is offered in an "open enrollment" format, which allows a students to begin whenever space is available. Please check our calendar listing for availability.
Students must provide their own welding helmet, jacket or sleeves, proper GMAW gloves, and must wear 100% cotton, full length pants and clothing, as well as leather boots or shoes, and safety glasses, which must be worn at all times while in the shop.
