Level 1 Welding - FCAW/FCAW-G
This is a beginning Flux Cored Arc Welding workshop designed for the student who has little-to-no experience welding with Flux Cored Wire used for structural application, AWS E71T-8 (Lincoln NR-232/233), or E71T-1 (Lincoln 71M).
The workshop is designed to teach the safe use and operation of welding power sources and equipment such as suitcase style wire feeders commonly used in the structural ironwork trades. Safety, welding parameteres, and proper welding technique will be heavily emphasized. Students will begin to weld simulated groove welds in the Flat (1G) and Horizontal (2G) positions.
The short term goal of this workshop is to prepare the student for advancement to the Level 2 Welding Workshop, and leading to further advancement up to Welder Certification.*
NOTE: LADBS also requires welders to have passed the performance examination in the manual or SMAW process prior to issuing a semi-automatic (FCAW) certification.

Students must provide their own welding helmet, leather jacket, proper FCAW gloves, and must wear 100% cotton, full length pants and clothing, as well as leather boots or shoes, and safety glasses, which must be worn at all times while in the shop.
